Dear kindred writer,
It’s nearly a new week, and if you’ve been following along with the daily writing prompts, you may have already felt that gentle nudge: that small but real shift in awareness, clarity, or softness toward yourself. I certainly have.
Writing every day isn’t always easy, but if you gift yourself the time, it may bring your unexpected outcomes. Sometimes it’s a sentence you didn’t expect. Sometimes it’s a deep exhale. Sometimes it’s just showing up - all that matters is where it takes you and where you’re willing to go.
What Last Week Taught Me
Last week, as I moved through the prompts alongside you, I noticed I circled round a few recurring themes. The words “enough,” “truth,” and “permission” kept surfacing. I caught myself trying to be profound, then smiled and scribbled something ordinary instead. I remembered: this isn’t about being a “good writer.” This is about being you on the page. Softly, honestly and maybe for the first time in a (long) while.
Some prompts brought laughter. Some brought a pinch in the heart. One even made me cry - and yes, even when you’re the one writing the prompt, you never know what it will bring. Every time I sat down to write, even if it was just for five minutes, I felt better afterwards - more me. I hope you felt that too.
Subscribrary is Growing - Thanks to You
I feel that something beautiful is blossoming from this. The Subscribrary Instagram (@subscribrary) is starting to gain momentum with over 400 followers already and I feel so lucky to watch this little project stretch its arms toward the world. New people are discovering us every day, tapping through the reels, pausing on the prompts, sending kind messages - all because they’re searching for something deeper and softer too.
To those of you who have subscribed to this Substack, and especially to my paying subscribers: thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your contribution keeps this project alive. Your support tells me, “this matters.” And I promise you - it really, really does.
Your presence allows me to spend time crafting these prompts with love, drawing on years of personal journaling, heart-healing, therapy, and quiet wondering. I hope you feel that care. I hope the prompts make your mornings or evenings a little more grounded. A little more yours.
Have you noticed, by the way, that they are posted to your mailbox at 11:11 every morning? It’s my favorite time of day and I feel that it brings symbolism and intention to your writing when I too add mine to the daily prompts.
Is This What You Hoped For?
I’d love to ask something: How is it going for you?
Are you feeling overwhelmed?
Are the prompts too frequent? Too gentle? Too deep? Not deep enough?
Would you prefer a weekly roundup?
Or maybe you'd love more quotes, more structure, or a tiny dose of something else?
There’s no wrong answer. This is a living, breathing project and you get to help shape it. Subscribrary is meant to be a cozy place to come home to and home only feels like home if it fits the people it houses.
You’re always welcome to send me a message (reply to this post or DM me on Instagram), whether it's feedback, a photo of your journal, or just to say: “Hi, I'm here.” And if there’s enough interest, I would love to open up our Substack group chat in the near future as a safe little corner for us daily writers to connect, share reflections and cheer each other on.
An Invitation to Join the Daily Writers
If you’re reading this but haven’t started writing yet, maybe you’ve been watching from the sidelines, or collecting some of the prompts through Instagram posts, but not using them - then this is your sign!
Start today. Start with the latest prompt. Or start with day one - or whatever prompt appeals to you, all is good. Grab a blank page and write “I don’t know what to write.” See where it leads.
This practice isn’t about perfect sentences. It’s not about impressing anyone (not even yourself). It’s about making space. It’s about being present with your thoughts, your feelings, your memories. About slowing down just enough to hear your own voice rise through the noise.
Daily writing has brought me peace where there was anxiety, insight where there was fog and healing where the pain was stored. It has taught me to listen. It has softened my inner critic and made room for the wiser, kinder voice beneath.
I truly believe it will do the same for you.
So here’s to us: to showing up, to being real on the page, to forming a gentle habit that might just change our lives.
I’m so glad you’re here. Thank you again for walking this path with me. Let’s keep writing, one day at a time.
With gratitude and a little ink on my fingers,
Mies
For me, I feel a little overwhelmed because I feel I need to keep up, though I know that’s not necessary. So I’ve dipped in and out when I have space. I think it could be good to have a weekly round up post instead, but that’s just me. The depth of a prompt depends on what it brings up. Like you, some have led me along my path of grief and I’ve cried as I’ve walked along it. Others have me stumped or some feel too deep for that moment. I’m enjoying being part of the process 🥰
Hi Mies, I haven’t done anything with the prompts, warned you about that 😁 but I read them and think about them. I like that I’m part of your community and I would certainly participate in a chat. Maybe, in due course and if others would like it too, we could have a life chat over Zoom or Teams. I would really like to get to know the others and their projects. Just a thought! Whatever you feel is good and in any case keep going, have a good week! Cx
