The end of October is a liminal time, between light and dark, between endings and beginnings, between seen and unseen. In Celtic tradition, this is Samhain, the New Year of the soul. It’s a time for letting go, honouring what’s passed and planting seeds for the dark season ahead. These prompts invite you to write across the veil into memory, magic, grief, and becoming.
Some things must end so other things can begin. There’s grief in that, but also grace.
Write a goodbye to something (or someone) you’ve been slowly releasing this year. Be as honest and loving as you need to be.
Quote:
“To weep is to make less the depth of grief.” - William Shakespeare
Goodbyes still terrify me a little. Even the quiet ones. But I try to honor them like a ritual: with breath, with ink, with gratitude. They deserve to be seen. Do tell me, how do you deal with goodbyes? xxx Mies
